DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology) registration is the process of registering businesses and entities that send commercial messages in India to comply with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) regulations. The registration process aims to curb the menace of unsolicited commercial communication or spam messages sent via voice calls or SMS to consumers.
Here are the guidelines and the process for DLT registration:
Choose a DLT platform: There are several DLT platforms approved by TRAI for registration. You can choose any of them based on your business requirements.
Create an account: Once you have chosen a DLT platform, create an account by providing your basic details like company name, address, PAN, GST, etc.
Get KYC verified: After creating the account, you will need to get your KYC (Know Your Customer) verified by providing your ID proof, address proof, and other relevant documents.
Upload customer data: Once your account is KYC verified, upload your customer data, including phone numbers and consent details.
Scrubbing of data: The DLT platform will scrub your customer data to identify and remove any unregistered numbers or those who have not given consent for commercial messages.
Register for headers: You will need to register your sender IDs (also known as headers) that you will be using to send commercial messages to your customers.
Submit declaration: After completing the above steps, submit a declaration confirming that all the information provided by you is correct and accurate.
Pay registration fees: Once you submit the declaration, pay the registration fees to complete the DLT registration process.
It is essential to follow all the guidelines provided by TRAI for DLT registration. Failing to comply with the regulations may result in hefty penalties and legal actions against your business.
